Park Carleton Place - a farm Ashton United Church Ottawa Carleton Trail, 202 at Dwyer Hill Road.  Built on the Canada Central Railway bed (CCR). Began in Brockville in 1859, reached Arnprior in 1864, Ottawa in 1870, and Pembroke in 1876.  It started out as wide guage and swithced to standard guage in 1880.  It abandoned it's Carleton Place to Ottawa run.  The Brockville to Smith Falls became a VIA track. Ottawa Valley Railway (OVR) built in 1881 as part of CPR trans-continental line.  Traffic is now routed through Toronto, north to Parry Sound and Sudbury.  The rails from Renfrew to Pembroke were removed in 2011, Mattawa to Smith Falls in 2012.  The used railway tracks were worth $50 million, more than the railway itself.  These tracks built a nation.  Looking north.
