Tourism in Brazil is a growing sector and key to the economy of several regions of the country. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries Italian, German, Spanish, Arab and Japanese immigrants settled in Brazil and played an important role in its culture, creating a multicultural and multiethnic society.

Brasilia (en portugués Brasília) es la capital de Brasil, localizada en la parte central del país. Tiene una población de 2. 562. 963 habitantes según las estimaciones del censo de 2010 y es la sede del gobierno federal, conformado por el presidente —quien trabaja en el Palacio de Planalto—, el Supremo Tribunal Federal de Brasil y el Congreso Nacional de Brasil.
La construcción de la ciudad comenzó en 1956, siendo Lúcio Costa el principal urbanista y Oscar Niemeyer el principal arquitecto. En 1960, se convirtió oficialmente en la capital de Brasil. Junto con Putrajaya (la capital administrativa de Malasia) y Naypyidaw (la nueva capital de Birmania) es una de las ciudades capitales de más reciente construcción en el mundo.
Brasilia se localiza en el Distrito Federal, el cual no tiene las mismas fronteras que la ciudad. El Distrito Federal se encuentra rodeado por el estado brasileño de Goiás, excepto por una corta frontera que comparte con Minas Gerais.
En 1987 la Unesco declaró a la ciudad Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad, siendo la única ciudad construida en el siglo XX que ha recibido este honor.
