Litauens näst största stad är Kaunas (befolkning 373. 700), som ligger vid sammanflödet av Nemunas och Neris, landets två största floder. Detta var huvudstad i Litauen mellan krigen i 1920-1940, men stadens historia började på 13-talet då den största stenen bastion i Litauen byggdes här. Attacker av korsfararna bleknade i början av 15-talet och återupplivades Kaunas. Det blev snabbt ett viktigt handelscentrum och en stor flod hamn. Idag, mer än 420 tusen människor bor i Kaunas. |

A hand made beauty of this historical center is added by picturesque natural landscapes. Kaunas stands at the junction of two main rivers in Lithuania: Neman and Nyaris. |
