We came here just to eat, once we entered the building we felt we went back in time. Wonderful service and delicious home cooked food!

Are you just looking for a comfortable place to get a night of sleep? Then go somewhere else! At Paulsens Hotel you can experience what it might have been like to stay at a hotel 100 years ago.
The rooms are small and the walls are thin but this is part of the experience! The staff, who took over the business three days before my stay, is very (!) friendly and I wish them all the best for the future of their hotel!

One of a kind hotel, where you are taken back 100 years or so in time. Lots of original antiques fill the house, and the staff are generally dressed in period specific attire. I recommend the Friday night all you can eat grill your own "Wishing grill" in the back in the summer. All the food served here is tip top. (Dont stay here if modern conveniences are important to you. This is not where you should expect it.)

Lovely old hotel. Authentic style. Good food. Beware that shower and toilets are in the hallway, and the building lacks sound proofing. Anyway: would book again.

We came her by chance, driving from Kristiansand to Bergen looking for a place to sleep. While the pictures online of the staff dressed in and old maid costume seemed a bit odd, compared to the other "normal" boring ugly hotels in the area it seemed much better so we decided to give it a try. Very quaint and old fashioned feeling! The danish man working there told us some cute ghost stories and the history of the houses becoming a hotel in norwegian. Probably the most authentic guest house I've ever stayed out. Nothing luxurious but was a nice romantic evening in :) Theres also a nice little river with a bridge over it where you can walk. We saw the sunset there, it was beautiful.
