Amigos Hostel Cozumel

We stayed in a private room here for 3 nights. The room was clean, comfortable, and air conditioned. The hostel is well-located with an attentive and knowledgeable host. There are lots of affordable and delicious local restaurants in the surrounding streets. The hostel has a lovely pool and well-stocked kitchen, including a BBQ. I would highly recommend anyone coming to Cozumel to stay here.

From the outside you may question your decision but, once you make your way inside, you will realize you made the right choice. Great social atmosphere, very clean, great showers, super nice pool and the staff is very helpful. You are away from all hustle and bustle so you can find non tourist prices for food and drinks.

I arrived in Cozumel at 8pm and walked by myself (a female) 20+ minutes down dark, empty streets to get to Amigos. When I arrived the gates were shut so I rang the doorbell and waited patiently as per the sign. Alas, no one came after 10 minutes so I tried a second time, again waiting another 10 minutes. Third try - after another 5 minutes and still no answer I gave up - very disappointing! I then had to walk across the other side of town (another 20+ minutes) to Beds Friends Hostel, who had people at the door ready to help me with a bed (thankfully). I'm sure this is a nice hostel but I'm disappointed I didn't get to try it due to poor management.

Great hostel, probably the best on the island. Away from the pier section of town, with a large garden and pool area to cool off during the day. The owner is very friendly and helpful offering great tips on everything from diving and snorkeling to traveling around the area. Most of the "rules" I saw people complaining about were common sense things that are geared towards the environment. Overall I didn't feel restricted at all, and was able to do as I pleased. If you are looking for a good, clean, cheap hostel away from the port with all of its shops and over priced restaurants amigos is an awsome alternative.

The most clean hostel I have been in! I have stayed in 3-star hotels that took less pride in its upkeep. The owner fills you in on everything you need to know. The pool is perfect and the atmosphere is perfect. Off the beaten path and near so many great authentic restaurants. Only a few blocks (5 minute walk) from the beach. Has a full kitchen too.
