There are three things to know about Mill Street in Ottawa.

1) Their beer is excellent. They have great seasonal beers, and their staff is very knowledgeable about them.

2) Their food is pretty good, but it is over priced (especially their appetizers), but the quality is usually consistently good.

3) Their debit/credit machines are set by default to a 20% tip. Given that their food is relatively expensive, you're night out can become expensive fast..

Beautiful location but food is mediocre at best and service is consistently awful. Hostesses were disorganized and did not serve people in the order in which they arrived. Had to wait for a table despite having made a reservation and when we were finally seated had to wait another 15 minutes just for the waiter to come take our drink order. They were out of several things we tried to order off the menu and were not apologetic about it. My uneaten food (half an angus burger) was cleared away and thrown out before I had the chance to ask to have it packed up and the waiter was pushy about bringing our bills. Overall very poor dining experience. It’s only redeeming quality is the charm of the building but even that doesn’t make up for the crappy food and service at this pub. Have given this place many chances but am more and more disappointed every time I visit.

The food is delicious. The house made root beer is a great option for people like me who don't drink beer. We had the Friday fish and chips special and it was fantastic. I have never been disappointed with the food. The atmosphere was nice but very loud. It was Friday evening though. I am just a bit of an old lady who does not like noise.

This place has a lovely setting. By the river, in a nice wooded area -- it's easy to forget you're in town. The food is good and so is the beer. The brewery makes its own craft beer. Unfortunately, the service is very slow on week days during lunch. It's better for dinner or weekend brunch. It's also right by a bike path, which makes it a wonderful place for cyclists.

We had our wedding at Mill St in September 2017, and overall, had a fantastic experience with the venue. It was sometimes a bit difficult to get a hold of the event coordinator as she's swamped, but all communications we did have were extremely helpful, and we appreciated the guidance and consideration!

On the day of, we have nothing but excellent things to say. The staff were everywhere at once, but never in the way, and no request was too large or small. They did a beautiful job with the decor we provided (even putting some gorgeous finishing touches on our wedding cake!), and we had many comments from our guests on how smoothly everything was run - and with a smile!

Special thanks to Christine (our wonderful event coordinator), Adam (fantastic host and always with a smile), and Chloe (bartender/server/jack of all trades extraordinaire!) for exceptional service and helping us celebrate an absolutely magical day.
