I recently relocated from Noida to Pune and had got full insurance coverage done from Liberty Videocon Insurance. They charge 3% of the value of the goods as insurance charge for the transit insurance. Total insurance amount paid from my pocket was Rs 9000 for valuation of Rs. 3,00,000 of the goods.
Some of the items got damaged in transit and I raised a claim of Rs. 12,383 with them.
Below is the response from the team:
"Dear Sir,
We acknowledge receipt of documents as per below mail. It has been noted that claim amount is Rs. 12.383/-
Please note there is excess/deductible under the policy (attached) which reads as under,
“5% of consignment value subject to minimum of Rs. 10,000/-.
Hence the deductible amount comes to Rs. 15,000/- (3,00,000 x 5%). Since the loss amount is falling within deductible limit we regret our inability to consider reported claim and repudiate our liability under subject policy,

XYZ."
They never told me @ time of the insurance that a flat deduction of Minimum Rs 10,000 and up to Rs 15,000 would be done to avoid the claim.
This response removes my trust from the insurance company as well as Transit insurance. I will never get transit insurance done from any company after this.
