An absolute customer service disaster! I "had" to go there for a drink after last week's Cleveland Orchestra concert at the adjoining Brucknerhaus to avoid being stuck in traffic, but had been warned repeatedly that this bar has the rudest staff in Linz. And sure enough, they do. It's truly amazing that a bar like this is still in business, especially by American standards. We sat at the very empty bar, but had to flag down the bartender, who was standing a few feet away chatting it up with fellow bartenders and was refusing to acknowledge us. When I finally asked him if we could order, he rolled his eyes and said he'd "make an exception and help us." Then he brought my dad the wrong order, and when he pointed out to him, very kindly, that he had ordered a large beer, the guy responds (oddly in terrible English, even though I speak German): "That's enough. The small beer is enough." Really.
I was absolutely floored. Needless to say, we left shortly thereafter. I've been to bars from Seattle to Rhodes to Buenos Aires, but this one takes the prize for rudest wait staff on the planet, in my humble opinion . Paying customers are a huge inconvenience here. While the view of the Danube is certainly very nice, call me crazy, but I prefer not to be treated poorly by the waitstaff. Would love to give this place zero stars, but unfortunately, Google doesn't allow that. I'd highly recommend staying away from this place!
