I have taken several beginning silversmithing classes at CCA and have loved them. I had NO EXPERIENCE in the world of jewelry making when I came to my first class. My teacher was Kathy Pritchett. She really knows how metals work and how students best learn to work with them. I have been amazed when I am working at home, how I seem to know what to do when I get stuck. What I am saying is that you will learn much more than just how to make a particular piece. She really welcomes you into the world of metalsmithing as an apprentice and shares many of the intricacies involved in whatever you are learning about. She knows her stuff and is able to communicate it well.

I have also taken silversmithing classes elsewhere. I am back at CCA, because I came to appreciate the high standard she expects of her students' work and the level of detail and care that is needed to make high quality pieces of art.

The Clear Creek Academy of Jewelry and Metal Arts is in the Navajo Arts District and is surrounded by local co-op art galleries as well as Patsy's (a great Italian restaurant that has been there for years). I have taken a number of classes at Clear Creek Academy, which include: Introduction to Silversmithing, Intermediate Silvermithing Level 1 & 2, Lost Wax Casting - Levels 1, 2, 3, as well as a number of intensive workshops. In each of these classes the instruction has been top notch, with great attention given to the development of each student's technical silversmithing skills. The classes are not overly crowded and I was given ample personal attention in each of my classes. Because of the instruction and support at Clear Creek, I am now inspired to start my own jewelry business and feel confident in the valuable knowledge I continue to gain through classes and workshops.
