I would like to say out of 17 years of doing business in Charleston, these are the only two complaints I've ever received, and they are extremely skewed stories and shockingly cruel. I have a lovely, loyal clientele who sing my praises regularly to me, referring me new clients on a weekly basis. These two very ugly reviews were malicious, and interestingly, don't bother to tell their part.
Stef pow was a great client who I became very close to personally during our facial sessions. She came to me monthly for over 6 months and bought two series of facial packages. She is in the medical field and cancelled many times with last minute issues which I never minded. Her schedule was always fluctuating which is why it was difficult for her to book with me. She knew my hours (I work during the day 9-4) and my hours didn't always jive with hers. One day I messaged her to say I was on my way, as I had been to a Drs appt, and I told her I would be there exactly on time, but not early. I couldn't believe her demeanor after I arrived, it was though someone flipped her switch to a different person. I was shocked and confused. She was so rude, far from the sweet friend I had developed a relationship with and it was downhill from then on. She doesn't bother to mention I refunded her money.
The other cruel reviewer with incorrect facts doesn't mention he literally called me 30 times in one day, yikes!! I tried to refer him on to someone else as I didn't feel comfortable having him. He doesn't mention I had broken my arm right as he was trying to book with me and I couldn't work for six weeks, so yes, I was hard to book with while I was closed with a broken arm. I felt in my gut not to do book him after many conversations on the phone, and offered to send him a check as he had purchased a voucher online, but he was persistent and waited for my arm to heal.
That is why I put "Ugh" by his name, that's the only true thing he stated. He was extremely odd and only wrote the review when he invaded my privacy by looking through my appointment book and saw "Ugh! " Of course he was offended. He sought thoughtless revenge, not taking into consideration all of my years of my hard work and dedication to my clients, attempting to tarnish my solid reputation.
Please do not hesitate to book with me, let me prove to you these two individuals were unjustifiably cruel writing these smears and have their own issues. My clients truly love me and their facial and waxing services, which is why they are loyal and have been coming to me for years. God Bless, and thank you for reading my side. :)

Do not pre-pay for facial packages with Amanda Shannon, owner and esthetician of this studio. My first facial was a good facial so I bought a package. Once I bought a package, it was impossible to schedule a facial with Amanda. She would frequently cancel on me despite booking a month in advance. She would arrive late. She is the only one in this studio so when she arrives late, you are stuck waiting in your car. Once I was stuck in my car waiting for 15 minutes in the middle of a very hot Charleston summer day… not a relaxing way to start a spa treatment. She then blamed me for showing before she was at her studio. There are many great estheticians in Charleston and I would not recommend wasting your money here.

This was by far one of the worst skin care/hospitality experiences that I have ever had. Amanda (the owner of Aqua Facial Studio) seemed nice. We discussed our availability and I scheduled an appointment. Then four months happened. Amanda cancelled on ME three times. On the day she finally accommodated me, I arrived 15 minutes early. Our personal introduction begin with Amanda chastising me for being early, stating that “if (she) had known (I) could have been there any earlier that 5:30 PM, she would have scheduled me earlier (she mentioned this because she decided to squeeze in an eyebrow wax 15 minutes before me, which of course ran late).”

The final straw was while I was alone in her waiting room/office. Right beside the tea table where patrons are invited to have a glass of tea, Amanda left her scheduling book out for everyone to see. Of course, I glanced down and saw my name. Between my name and “fire/ice” was written “Uggh!” When I saw this I was stunned. I noticed that the client listed on the same day above me for the same procedure had an arrow drawn to her name with “YUCK” written in all caps. Again, this was out where everyone could see.

Had the actual service been amazing, I might have hesitated in my review, but it was also bad. The facial was nothing but a little more than what I give myself two times a week at home. Of course she did remove some black heads and steamed my pores, but I would never have paid what I did for it, especially as a “deal”. I should have taken my money to someone who respects me as a client and more importantly as a person. Or better yet, I could have paid myself $130 and given myself the facial. If you are considering any type of skin care and want a good experience, seek someone who is professional both in practice ability (like a clinic) and in attitude (like a decent human being).

Amanda is so wonderful I have been going to her for years. I do not have the best skin but after my facial with her I look radiant! Will be back again and again!
