Completely impressed with Dr. McGuire all the way around. I have dealt with her with two situations: one from the standpoint of a teacher, one as a parent.

A student told me he was going to see her because his "mother thought he was crazy". I wanted Dr. McGuire to know the family dynamics, as I had known the struggles of this family for several years. She sat down with me and talked to me for almost an hour before this young man's appointment. After he was seen, he came to me and let me know that my insight was helpful, and that his mother was getting the help she needed, as it was her involvement in his life that was causing much of his problems. Dr. McGuire thanked me for coming in, and this young man just graduated college.

My own daughter went through testing and diagnosis of Asperger's....an entire day for her, a two hour interview for me. It was insightful and allowed us to brainstorm some strategies for facing and overcoming anxiety...without medication. My daughter had used medication before and reported feeling "in a daze" and "out of it", and didn't like the way that felt.

Dr. McGuire has that "old country doctor" feel to her....she really KNOWS her patients and their families, and understands we are all on the same team with a common goal. She works with your beliefs- ours was not wanting to be overmedicated- and finds compromises that are in the best interest of her patient.

And she has a cat in her office. Just a homey touch :)
