Simply. Amazing.

Stunning little wedding venue, completely dilapidated Georgian (or earlier?) chapel with crumbling walls gives a fantastic atmosphere. Lovely acoustics.

The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, cannot say not even a single bad word about it – very atmospheric, unique and is just perfect for weddings. The fact that it belonged to two artists made it even more attractive when we were looking for our wedding venue. However, what was supposed to be a stress-free, intimate, two-people ceremony has turned out to be a nightmare. Even though they claim that you can choose between a coordinated (£240 on top of venue hire) and non-coordinated wedding, in reality there is no choice – you are being forced into hiring a wedding coordinator. Their operation manager, Hannah Chrystal, just couldn’t keep a track of anything because, in her own words, they have too many weddings and we shouldn’t be expecting her to have all the forms and remember everything: 1. she chased the invoice, which was paid in full at the time of booking; 2. she couldn’t find our information sheet (where you explain what you want on the day) and couldn’t even be bothered to search for it in her inbox 3. she couldn’t even remember those few requirement that we had (e.g. we wanted chairs lined up) 4. and was impossible to talk to in general (rude in your face without any regrets). When we complained about the service provided to the owners (it took ages to get hold of their contact details, because Hannah just refused to provide them) – Jo Dennis and Dido Hallett – we got another slap in the face. They acted like they were shocked by the situation, apologised for Hannah and, for our biggest surprise and disappointment, asked us to pay for a wedding coordinator anyways because ‘wedding coordinators are freelancers and freelancers have to be paid’. What is more, in the end they took their apology back and we were advised that even though their operational managed was not able to do her job properly, it was our decision to hire a wedding coordinator. Unique & great venue - a shame same can’t be said about their customer service and behaviour. Venue Management do not care about your special day – their only concern is to make sure they get their money. We decided to write this review (because we believe in ‘name and shame’ concept) to make anyone interested in the venue aware of the behaviour of the management of this chapel and maybe, in a way, protect you. However, if you still decide to go for this venue, just get a wedding coordinator straight away (we chose Phil Swan as ours) so they don’t ruin your wedding, because the venue itself is just amazing! Jo, Dido, Hannah, shame on you for having such a beautiful venue and having no idea how to manage it! We are boo’ing you real loud here and will make sure we let as many people know as we can about what happens backstage! EVERYONE DESERVES THEIR WEDDING TO BE REMEMBERRED WITH A SMILE ON THEIR FACE, NOT ANGER!!!
