I was so surprised at this quaint little bar and cinema that you would walk by without realising it was there. Themed like being inside of an airplane it's quite charming and I was in awe at the cinema tucked away behind the cafe and bar.

I attended a movie screening there but to know that they show classic and latest films for a more than reasonable £7 will definitely bring me there again. If not just for another cheese and tomato toastie. By far the best I've had somewhere where you needed a bit of sustenance to keep you going.

The cinema might be a bit noisy at times, sadly there are live railway tracks above it but that doesn't detract from a super cool spot in Hackney!

Absolute gem in Hackney, £6 to see a film any day of the week is decent. Great bar and kitchen and music is always spot on. BBE Records pop-up store is amazing too.

Lovely drinks and front of house staff. Food decent and well priced.

The cinema is charming and also well priced.

The lack of an usher as well as soundproofing led to a film (blade runner) constantly interrupted by noises, loud patrons and idiots. The party, seemingly next door, was a massive interruption and often ruined large parts of the film. I have no issue with a venue being multi purpose, just please don't sell me a cinema ticket and then interupt my experience with other events you're also making money from. A sour taste was left.

Went to watch a film here and there was the constant rumble of trains passing over ahead, at times we could here the noise from the bar and then to top it all off the projector screen started going up at one point. The staff at the bar were also incredibly slow. Never going back.

I live next door so I starting going to Institute of lights from their first weeks :) Love the cinema (if you spoiled it's not your place I am afraid :) price just £6 and no any booking fees!
Love the fact that they keep changing chefs and types of cuisines so we come back again and again. We have some lovely places to eat around but if they have the same menu for 5 years you stop going.
Can't wait to try Billy smokes later this week :)

a little tip: tables could be cleaned more often ;)
