Poor service. As we arrived later than the time we announced at booking, we were told that we are one hour late and the prepaid rental we made with budget.fr is not anymore valid. The clerk at the desk, in this likely well rehearsed scam, said the rate is now more than 900EUR instead of 620EUR. He invoked that the computer system refuses our prepaid rental... NB.:Avis and Budget share the same desk and car fleet.
However this hour delay is listed as a reason for cancellation in the fine prints. Beside that being hold for an hour in a plane we had no chance to call them. Furthermore, most rental companies accept a two hours delay before considering a contract as late.
After a long argument, we were offered an other category car from Avis and being told for the same price. The car we received was not clean. The budget.fr rental was refunded more than a week later, and we lost on the exchange rates. After returning it fuelled up, the Avis car was charged later to our credit card for 20EUR more than the agreed price, without any explanation.
We were usually renting a car on the French side of Geneva airport, as the access more easier access than on the Swiss side; yes, the cars are kept in the main building and you do not have to load and unload your luggage to and from a frequently overloaded shuttle bus.
There was a small price advantage paying in EUR instead of CHF. The disadvantages are that the cars from Avis or Budget, with French registration, are not provided with winter tires, even it is a seasonal necessity between Alps and, Jura. The sticker for using the car on Swiss freeway, needed in this location, had to be purchased elsewhere for 40CHF. No Avis/Budget staff was present in the garage to assist us.

Car given gas gear transmission problem. Return vehicle address on paperwork was wrong causing us to drive for 30 mins finding the correct location. They said "oh yes we know about that" on return. Complete apathy and useless. Could have missed flight but fortunately has time, no thanks to Avis.

For this trip in France/Switzerland I ordered a big station wagon (Reanault Megane or similar as written on my booking receipt) because we were four adult people with a lot of luggage. At Avis rental station (France sector) they gave me an small Renault Capture. I did not know wat kind of car this was and asked the responsible manager at work if it was ok for four adult person and a lot of luggage. He told me that this was a very big car so it was no problem at all. When we pick up the car in the garage I saw it was to small but the time was about 23:00 in the evening and the office had closed down behind us. As a Avis preferred customer for many years I am very disappointed to experience something like this. I am now considering if I should be cancelled all my Avis rental car bookings for my holiday in Europe this summer.

Beware from this fraudulent agency.
Counter clerk add absolutely useless products to our reservation, instead of our request NOT to add anything! Then he said sign here and there and it's it! Our credit card company pay to them an extra 327 Euros! BEWARE do not sign anything!

Beware of this agency whose business practices are sub-standard. The car I rented from them was later vandalized in Italy. When I called AVIS Geneva to ask what to do, they told me to swap it out at the nearest AVIS office, which in this case was in Turin. When I returned the replacement vehicle to Geneva a few days later, however, they levied a hefty -- several hundred dollars -- one-way charge. When I said I was simply doing what they asked me to do and that I have never agreed to the one-way charge, they still refused to waive the extra fee. When I returned to the US, AVIS-US weaseled out of everything saying the Geneva Agency was responsible. As a retired American diplomat I've rented vehicles around the world for four decades and never seen something this dishonest. If there are any deviations for any reason from your reservation, make sure you have proper documentation in English. And don't take it for granted that this AVIS office will treat you fairly. I hope you don't get hit like I did.
