An amazing restaurant with generous portions. The Biltong platter is delicious and you have a large selection of CBC beers to choose from.

Great pizza, laid back and relax, beautiful views and plenty to do and see at surrounding shops.

One of the most pathetic places I have been to. The view and the location are great but the people! Bad service( special from Suné Strydom, Chef Philip Pretorius and unfriendly waiters ).

A few weeks ago I went for a late lunch with a few friends. When we arrived at the farm the whole group (13 of us) went straight to Barley & Biltong restaurant for food! None stepped into the winery(except me going down to go and get some wine from spice route winery for the group)

I went down got two bottles which waiter came to ask for a cork fee. Jokingly I asked the reason why I should pay for the fee especially that I had brought so many people(there two other table occupied). He asked me not to be difficult, and without prolonging the conversation, I agreed to pay the fee (now wine price Plus cork fee). I opened the bottle took a sip and shared it around the table with everyone. The wine glasses were brought, and we continued drinking using them while waiting for our food.

After eating the group was split into two. One group wanted to stay at the restaurant, and the others wanted to go for the gin and chocolate tasting. I was full, and I opted to rest on the grass (The place does offer picnic option). Chef Philip Pretorius approached one of a friend and asked him that I shouldn't sleep on the grass. Without arguing, I rose!

The day after Suné Strydom called to inform that I had been banned from the place! Since we didn't know what the problem was, I emailed her to find out what was the problem and asked to meet up to find out what the problem was. And her response was, 'Elisha, unfortunately, we are not interested to be meeting with you to discuss the past events'.

I email her again to give us the reason for the ban:

: Breaking a glass
: Drinking out of wine bottle that we Paid FOR!
: Laying on their grass

At first, we didn't mind until we realised that all the all the accusation were not true! Suné Strydom couldn't even tell who went to the winery. And if they were confident about their story, why was it difficult to meet a customer who was wrongly accused of something! I guess after taking our money you don't give a sh£t anyway or just a lack of professionalism!

The place has that great grilled meat smell when you walk in, which is very inviting. The selection is fair, certainly not large. Their salads were generous and tasty, though not quite my style and a tad basic. We also had burgers, which I would call adequate. They were large, but not exceptional, and had that parboiled taste.

Service was prompt, however the food took 40 minutes to arrive, though it was busy at the time.

In terms of pricing, I would be willing to pay about half what I did for the Tafelburger I had, vs what it cost. So the food, to my mind, should be priced at half of the menu price in terms of value.

Of course, great location and views and a good vibe in the place.
