Nice shopping area. Food, drink and the beautiful location are the biggest fortes. Shopping for clothes are also good. Shopping for anything else - not so much

All in one place. Great stores and excellent restaurants. Superb location by the water!

Score: 75/100. As commercial and tarted up as it was, I thought this was one of the more deserving must-see-places in Oslo. We heeded some local advice not being ripped off by any of the fjord-side cafes. Instead we gobbled on ice-cream sitting on the rather comfortable public benches even closer to the fjord. You could even lie on some of them, which we discovered too late. The glorious sun that afternoon also helped. For the best view of the fjord and beyond, amble to and past the Astrup Fearnley Museet.

Great architecture. District for the taste. Coffee on the bench by the bay, every time :)

Lovely modern area packed with bars and restaurants. Similar to some areas of the docklands in London, repurposing old brick buildings for upscale condos, flats and restaurants. Ends with the interesting modern arts museum, in itself a good piece of modern architecture, at least in my lay understanding of it.
