Travel advices and warnings Cayman Islands
Clothing Lightweight, natural fabrics; a light raincoat or umbrella for the rainy season. Warmer clothes may be needed on cooler evenings.
Tourism Seven-Mile Beach is the best known of the beaches on the Cayman Islands but also the busiest, less crowded beaches can be found along the northern coast of Grand Cayman and at the southwestern end of Cayman Brac. The Caymans are one of the best diving locations in the Caribbean. The traditional West Indian culture is more evident on Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.

Climate Very warm, tropical climate throughout the year, with high temperatures moderated by trade winds. The best time to visit is during the dry months, December to April, when temperatures are generally cooler than in summer. The rainy season is from May to October but showers are generally of short duration. The hurricane season is from June to November and, since the islands are low-lying, there is a high risk of flooding if a storm hits.
Food and drink There is a strong Jamaican influence in the national cuisine, but most restaurants serve a cosmopolitan menu. Standards are generally high with good service, and credit cards are widely accepted credit cards. Bars and restaurants are well stocked with all beverages normally consumed in America and Europe. Draught beer is available in a few bars.
Specialities:
• Jerk chicken (chicken marinated in hot spices).
• Rice and peas.
• Fried plantain.
• Conch chowderdishes, including fritters, stew and chowder.
• Mahi-mahi (a tropical fish).
• Lobster.
• Turtle stew.
