It used to be better..almost the best Id been to anywhere. The additions are great ....but the power tripping staff and now lack of competition and treatment of others Ive seen there is not hot.

This is farce of an establishment.....banned for life in a pg bar.....for being out with someone who got way too drink and had a scuffle. I wasn't even throwing punches lol I'm not that way. But well guilt by association. Yeah. Not enuf bars in PG or life to be banned for it lmao. Lame games. Turn away. Glad to read I'm not the only one!! Whatever then lambda

I was banned from Lambda for writing a negative review. Being banned by an establishment that uses patrons can means that you will be banned from any facility which uses patronscan. I've since disputed my ban and if this has happened to you I suggest you do the same.
I wish I was kidding, but I'm not. It happened.
I was informed that I would not be allowed entry unless I took the review down.
Morally, that wasn't an option for me. I wanted to be able to dance and enjoy myself but I strongly oppose censorship so I took to social media. I wrote a post on facebook about what had happened, and watched the "Lambda cabaret" facebook page's reviews quickly dropped from 4.5 to 3.5.
The owner deleted the facebook review page days later. So here I am, telling you my story where it cannot be touched.

The original review was not even the 1 star I'm giving it now. I gave the club a "fair" review of 2/5 stars. The review included critiques on the music and some things I'd consistently seen in the 4+ years I've been going to the club.

So before we get into the really sad/awful part of this "club", we'll start with the music.. It's pretty awful. Top 40 stuff. All the time. It wouldn't be all that bad if songs didn't end halfway through the chorus with the fadeout or transition. It's painful. Just as I'm starting to get into a song, it will cut off, leaving me kind of confused and sad. Then I get far too drunk to care, and suddenly it's all very funny to me.

When I took to social media to spread the word about what had happened, others chimed in with their own stories of racial profiling (no less then 4 of my own friends were refused entry on the grounds of race), or moments where they were made to feel very unsafe because of the owner's instability.
I've seen her scream at someone for sharing their water and calling another person worthless for not drinking alcohol. I've also witnessed a bartender endure her wrath after giving a young woman a glass of water because she was clearly far too inebriated. When he told her that this girl had alcohol poisoning and needed water, the owner actually had the audacity to scream (in front of everyone) "this is not a charity!".

This is not a safe space.

A great place to spend the night out with your friends. Cheap drinks, great music, and amazing atmosphere!!!

I used to really enjoy dancing with friends at this establishment however I have to echo what Matthew said. Nobody deserves to be treated like a criminal for being themselves and for speaking up when they see unjust unethical actions occurring at any establishment. The wild accusations, assumptions and bully tactics at the door need to come to an end. Unfortunately I've seen and experienced enough not to return until there is a change and I know others who have made that same choice based on what they have witnessed or experienced at the door. The ego must go. To quote the owner in a TV interview, they let in "only the nicest of nice people". I can also quote the manager who will "stand behind [their] staff regardless of what she said". I don't want to be treated like that or judged at the door of any establishment based on appearance or words, having not done anything wrong. Yes they need to do their job and refuse service to those who have had too many or those who are causing problems but this goes beyond that.I truly hope that someday I can submit a more positive review of this establishment as I would have done in the past before these issues started to arise because I do miss dancing, as rare as it happens, and there are limited options in PG.
Respectfully and honestly,
Jen
