I'd like to rate this place higher as it has great potential, but, we went there tonight for an end of evening drink and the experience was far from delightful. Apart from expensive drinks, which I can live with as not everywhere offers specials on doubles, the reception was frosty. The bar was busy (note it's small) so I asked if we could sit in the back area, I was told no as they were setting up for breakfast. Thanks! Couldn't they do that once the bar was empty? So, we paid over the odds to have to stand, great! The man behind the bar then grumbled about getting ice, is that really an unreasonable request? He then proceeded to clear down the bar, before 11, without warning to the several occupants of the bar. While we finished our drinks, note I didn't say enjoyed, not allowed at the Griffin, two customers asked for more drinks, both were told the pub was shut. They took it well, but surely when the bar is full you give people warning?? Anyway, would I go back, not at all, and my 2 stars are generous!

Nice little pub with some decent beer choices. The beer was my favourite part as the food (chicken club) wasn't the best but that could just be me. Wait staff was friendly :)

Nice central pub, light, airy and clean with a good range if beers. Comfortable chairs/atmosphere. Didn't eat but the menu looked good. I hear the rooms are gorgeous.
