Travel advices and warnings Ghana
Tourism Until 1993 Ghana tourism hardly made any contribution to the country's economy, but this year the Ministry of Tourism was founded. This ministry was later changed into the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporan Relations. Since then, the ministry has been trying to improve the economy of Ghana, and with success!

Important tourist attractions that have made Ghana tourism more popular are, among others, the many National Parks, Cape Coast, the Cultural Centre in Kumasi and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in Accra.

As a tourist in Ghana, you will not need to worry about speaking the language. The local languages spoken in Ghana include Akan, Ewe, Ga, Dagbani, Nzema and Hausa, but the official language is English. Therefore it will be easy for you to make yourself understood, wherever you will go.
Culture Ghana is a country of 24 million people comprising over 60 ethnic groups. Fifty two major languages and hundreds of dialects are spoken in Ghana, and English, the official language of Ghana, is spoken by many. Like most other African nations Ghana has rich traditional cultures that differ from one ethnic group to the other.
Cuisine Ghanaian cuisine is the cuisine of Ghana. There are diverse traditional dishes from each ethnic group, tribe and clan from the north to the south and from the east to west. Foods also vary according to the season, time of the day and occasion. Ghanaian main dishes unlike other cultures are organized around a starchy staple such as rice, fufu, banku / etew, kenkey/dokonu , tuozafi, dzidzii, akplidzii, yakeyake, eto, akyeke, etc with which a sauce or soup saturated with fish, snails, meat or mushrooms is served.
Climate The climate is tropical but relatively mild for the latitude. Climatic differences between various parts of the country are affected by the sun's journey north or south of the equator and the corresponding position of the intertropical convergence zone, the boundary between the moist southwesterly winds and the dry northeasterly winds. Except in the north, there are two rainy seasons, from April through June and from September to November. Squalls occur in the north during March and April, followed by occasional rain until August and September, when the rainfall reaches its peak. Average temperatures range between 21° and 32° C (70–90° F ), with relative humidity between 50% and 80%. Rainfall ranges from 83 to 220 cm (33–87 in) a year.

From wikipedia about Ghana

Ghana, officially the Republic of Ghana, is a country located in West Africa. It is bordered by Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. The word Ghana means "Warrior King"Jackson, John G. Introduction to African Civilizations, 2001. Page 201. and is derived from the ancient Ghana Empire.

Ghana was inhabited in pre-colonial times by a number of ancient predominantly Akan kingdoms, including the inland Ashanti Empire, the Akwamu, the Akyem, the Bonoman, the Denkyira, and the Fante among others. Non-Akan states created by the Ga and Ewe also existed as did states by the Gonja, Dagomba and others. Prior to contact with Europeans trade between the Akan and various African states flourished due to Akan's gold wealth. Trade with European states began after contact with the Portuguese in the 15th century, and the British established the Gold Coast Crown colony in 1874 over parts but not all of the country. The Gold Coast achieved independence from the United Kingdom in 1957, becoming the first sub-Saharan African nation to do so, Peter N. Stearns and William Leonard Langer.
